Why We Only Use Full-Grain Leather at Pawlique

When we set out to create Pawlique, we spent months testing materials before settling on full-grain leather. It wasn't the cheapest choice — but it was the right one.

What is Full-Grain Leather?

Full-grain leather is the highest quality cut of hide, taken from the outermost layer of the skin. Unlike top-grain or bonded leather, it hasn't been sanded or buffed to remove imperfections. Those natural markings give each piece its character.

It Gets Better With Age

Full-grain leather develops a patina over time. The more it's worn, the richer and more beautiful it becomes. A Pawlique collar worn daily for three years will look better than the day it arrived.

Our Tannery

We source our hides from a third-generation family tannery in Tuscany that has been working with leather since 1952. Their vegetable-tanning process uses natural tree bark extracts — the result is a leather that's better for your pet, better for the environment, and simply more beautiful.
